What is the function of pot type rubber bearings for highway bridges
Basin type bearings are the main load-bearing bearings for large-span bridges, relying on steel basins, rubber compression, sliding/rotating structures to bear all the stress and deformation coordination between the upper part of the bridge and the piers and abutments. The five core functions are:
Basin type bearings are the main load-bearing bearings for large-span bridges, relying on steel basins, rubber compression, sliding/rotating structures to bear all the stress and deformation coordination between the upper part of the bridge and the piers and abutments. The five core functions are:
1、 Vertical load-bearing, capable of withstanding huge loads
Carrying the vertical pressure of the main beam's own weight, vehicle live load, crowds, wind and snow, etc., and evenly transferring the huge weight of the upper part to the bridge pier and abutment foundation;
The steel basin wraps the pressure bearing rubber block to restrain the lateral expansion of the rubber, and the pressure bearing capacity is much higher than that of ordinary plate bearings, suitable for large-span box girders, T-beams, continuous beams, and rigid frame bridges.
2、 Adapt to the rotational deformation of the beam body
Vehicle loads, temperature fluctuations, and concrete shrinkage and creep can cause small turning angles at the beam ends;
The rubber block inside the support has elastic deformation ability and can freely adapt to the up and down pitching rotation of the beam end, avoiding additional bending stress on the beam body and pier, and preventing cracking of the beam body and damage to the pier body.
3、 Release horizontal displacement (divided into fixed, one-way, and two-way sliding types)
Bidirectional sliding support: suitable for longitudinal and transverse displacement caused by temperature thermal expansion and contraction, concrete shrinkage, and braking force;
Unidirectional sliding support: only allows expansion and contraction along the bridge direction, with lateral limit;
Fixed support: Fully lock the horizontal displacement, use this as the fixed fulcrum of the entire bridge, and allocate the expansion and contraction of each span;
The sliding surface is generally made of stainless steel plate and polytetrafluoroethylene sliding plate, with a low friction coefficient and low displacement and smooth resistance.
4、 Buffer and shock absorption, disperse impact stress
Vehicle braking, bumps, and earthquake impacts generate instantaneous impact forces, and the middle rubber block provides elastic cushioning to reduce vibration and impact, preventing the load from being transmitted to the bridge pier foundation through hard impacts and protecting the durability and safety of the pier and pile foundation structures.
5、 Limited seismic resistance (seismic basin type support)
Seismic basin bearings with seismic blocks and damping structures:
Free displacement and rotation during normal driving; After an earthquake occurs, the limit structure locks, restrains excessive displacement, and works with damping to dissipate seismic energy, preventing the main beam from falling or overturning, and improving the seismic resistance level of the bridge.
